Initially, I couldn't fault any of our dealings with Sam Lucas or his company, Smart Modern Projects based in Plymouth. He came to quote the job, gave a cost and we accepted. He took a deposit and scheduled work to begin (supply and fit 7 internal oak doors). He turned up a few days later and managed to fit all 7 doors in a single day - very impressive! The problems started when his painters applied clear coat to one of the doors and a big black mark appeared. His painters tried blaming us for supposedly sanding the door down, which is technically true but the painter actually instructed us to do it… we were helping him prep the doors (in his presence!) so he could get them done…. for that painter to then use that as an excuse for the problem was a real kick in the face. In the end after a very unpleasant phone call and text chat, Sam agreed to replace the door at no cost and booked us in. He failed to show up on two separate dates and after a rather ugly text conversation, he finally showed up on 3rd Feb! The door is now fitted, looks great and we can be happy with the work that was supplied. The quality of Sam’s work is second-to-none. Flawless, in fact! Customer service ended up being awful when a problem occurred… though in the end, he did address the issues which we appreciate.

Fortunately for us we we found smart modern projects, we had great difficulty and getting a professional carpenter to come round and quote and when we did they never came back. this company they said they were going to do the job and it was a fantastic job definitely use them again and the big recommendation from us thank you SMP.

Was professional, knowledgeable and courteous at all times, from start to finish. I chose smp as it seemed there wasn't an aspect of the project that seemed in any way a problem or an issue. Work finished well ahead of schedule and the final, finished work surpassed what I was expecting. Would definitely recommend 👍🏼
